It may not be your first choice if you live right next to a proper outdoor LEGOLAND\u00ae amusement park, or if you\u2019re someone who just doesn\u2019t like Legos. Otherwise, if you\u2019ve got kids and you\u2019re visiting Osaka, definitely put the Discovery Center near the top of your list! <\/p>\n<p>After many years of living in Osaka and being a LEGO\u00ae fan, I finally took my two children (6 and 10) to the Discovery Center. And now I\u2019m wondering why I didn\u2019t go sooner&#8230; Here are my observations and a few tips. <\/p>\n<div style=\"padding: 10px; border-radius: 0px; background: #f7f7f7;\">\n<h2 style=\"color:#0175c8; margin: 10px 0 0;\">\uff3bContents\uff3d<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"#anchor1\">Location<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#anchor2\">What&#8217;s inside LEGOLAND\u00ae Osaka?<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#anchor3\">Rides: Kingdom Quest &#038; Merlin\u2019s Apprentice<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#anchor4\">LEGO\u00ae 4D Cinema<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#anchor5\">Brick pits, themed play-zones, build &#038; test<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#anchor6\">Mini Land<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#anchor7\">LEGOLAND\u00ae Cafe<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#anchor8\">Tips to know before you go<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<h2 id=\"anchor1\" style=\"color: #0175c8;\">\u25a0LOCATION<\/h2>\n<p>Getting to the Discovery Center is easy! It\u2019s just a short walk from Osakako Station on the Osaka Metro. Use exit #1 and go straight. Head towards the giant LEGO\u00ae giraffe. The aquarium is home to sea creatures from all over the Pacific Rim and most notably two massive whale sharks\u2014Kai-kun and Yu-chan.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/maido-storage.oss-cn-hongkong.aliyuncs.com\/maido\/uploads\/2023\/04\/legoland-osaka-img18.jpg\" alt=\"aquarium Kaiyukan\" width=\"800\" height=\"560\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-16436\" srcset=\"https:\/\/maido-storage.oss-cn-hongkong.aliyuncs.com\/maido\/uploads\/2023\/04\/legoland-osaka-img18.jpg 800w, https:\/\/maido-storage.oss-cn-hongkong.aliyuncs.com\/maido\/uploads\/2023\/04\/legoland-osaka-img18-768x538.jpg 768w, https:\/\/maido-storage.oss-cn-hongkong.aliyuncs.com\/maido\/uploads\/2023\/04\/legoland-osaka-img18-400x280.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Also attached to Tempozan Marketplace, is the <a href=\"https:\/\/maido-bob.osaka\/en\/spot\/tempozan-giant-ferris-wheel\/\">Tempozan Giant Ferris Wheel<\/a>, a 112 meter tall disc that will take around on a 15-minute tour of Osaka Bay and beyond. LEGOLAND\u00ae Osaka<\/h2>\n<p>LEGOLAND\u00ae Discovery Center Osaka is just that\u2014a Discovery Center. It is not a full-blown amusement park. If you have been to one of the larger theme parks in Nagoya, Malaysia, or Denmark and you\u2019re expecting that level of lego, you will be disappointed. Kingdom Quest riders sit together in a cart that will take you around the castle-themed grounds armed with a laser gun to shoot as many bats, spiders, and other enemies as you can find to earn a high score. Merlin\u2019s Apprentice riders are whisked away spinning round and round and can control their carts to move up or down with a set of pedals. This is the best part for kids. (This was my 10 year-old\u2019s favorite part. He spent a good hour building, testing, and re-building. My 6 year-old daughter spent a good hour in the tunnels, slides and passageways of the LEGO\u00ae City Play Zone. Push a button to see the trains and trucks move. Watch the LEGO\u00ae minifigure window-washers teeter on the outside of Umeda Sky Building. It appears Spiderman is hiding somewhere in the city too!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/maido-storage.oss-cn-hongkong.aliyuncs.com\/maido\/uploads\/2023\/04\/legoland-osaka-img13.jpg\" alt=\"Umeda Sky Building made out of legos at Legoland Discovery Center Osaka\" width=\"500\" height=\"600\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-16418\" \/><\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s even a model of LEGOLAND\u00ae itself and the rest of the Osaka Bay area including the Santa Maria and a moving Ferris wheel. An array of soft drinks and snacks can get you recharged for the rest of the day. And they even have the Osaka special, Osaka Mixed Fruit Juice and those shockingly green Melon Soda Floats. The food menu is largely burgers and LEGO\u00aefries with a few options for curry. The most expensive item on the menu is the Minifigure Head  Popcorn Bucket for \u00a52,800, which I honestly really wanted. So whether you need a steaming black cup of caffeine or something sweet like an iced caramel latte, LEGOLAND\u00ae has your back. I appreciate that as a parent. The proximity to the play space, and brick pits located in the cafe make it possible to keep an eye on your kids while you relax with that coffee you so deserve.<\/p>\n<p>Master Builder Workshops and the Great LEGO\u00ae Race are other options for even more fun that are available with an additional purchase.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"anchor8\" style=\"color: #0175c8;\">\u25a0TIPS TO KNOW BEFORE YOU GO<\/h2>\n<p><b>Get your tickets ahead of time!<\/b> Although it <em>is<\/em> possible to purchase tickets at the door, they may not have any same-day tickets when you arrive. So it\u2019s best to plan ahead. You will be asked to select the time of your arrival in 30 minute blocks. You will still be admitted if you arrive late. If you purchase one of these passes be aware that both passes do have blackout dates at the Discovery Center, so read the details while planning your trip. With either pass, online reservations are still required so be sure to book the dates you want to go.<\/p>\n<p>As this is a <b>family attraction<\/b>, with the emphasis on kids\u2019 entertainment there are age restrictions in place. Your group must <b>include at least one child 15 or under<\/b>. But this doesn\u2019t mean you can drop the kids off at LEGOLAND\u00ae and go out for coffee. Children must be supervised by an adult. The attractions are primarily designed for children ages 3\u201310. That zone can keep a little LEGO\u00aefan busy for hours! I\u2019m sure my kids would have happily pieced bricks together all day long, but I was ready to go before we hit the 4 hour benchmark. Be prepared\u2014you exit through the gift-shop. The rides were fun, the LEGO\u00ae pits provided hours of creative entertainment, the hamburger buns were shaped like bricks, and there were all sorts of cute surprises hiding in the displays. My family had lots of fun on our visit.
