The temple is well-known for its Daruma dolls\u2013 styled after Bodhidharma, the founder of Zen Buddhism.<br \/>\n<br \/>\nTemple fortunes are sold tucked inside small Daruma dolls, which can be taken home as a souvenir or left on the temple grounds with the hundreds of others\u2013 on stairways, hidden among greenery, and perched on walls looking out over the scenery.<br \/>\n<br \/>\nVisitors who need a lot of luck or who have an ambitious goal in mind may purchase a larger Daruma doll and write your goal on his back.<br \/>\n<br \/>\nThe temple grounds also feature a large koi pond, an impressive 2-story main gate (rebuilt in 1603), numerous temple buildings and breathtaking scenery. Beautiful any time of year, fall is especially gorgeous!
