Tsunami Storm Surge Disaster Prevention Station (津波・高潮ステーション)

Awaza

This educational facility is geared towards disaster prevention and preparation. Exhibits include photos of water damage in Osaka during major typhoons in the early & mid-20C. The facility also includes models of flood prevention measures that have been introduced in Osaka, including flood gates and other feats of civil engineering. Visitors can also watch a dramatized tsunami in the Tsunami Disaster Experience Theater to imagine living through a tsunami and consider realistic obstacles and solutions for how to handle emergencies.
The Tsunami Station is a popular place for field trips, so expect to see groups of school-children when you visit.
