Divine Baked Cheesecake Fresh from the Oven at Rikuro Ojisan’s
Hello! I’m Pentagon, a writer based in Osaka.
The first time I tried Rikuro Ojisan’s cheesecake was back when I was a college student. A friend from Osaka brought it for me as a gift. When you warm it up in the microwave, it becomes just as fluffy as when it’s freshly baked, and I still remember how incredibly delicious it was.
What shocked me even more was when my friend told me, “Rikuro’s cheesecake is only 700 yen.” Coming from the countryside, that price blew my mind—I felt like my head was going to explode (laughs).
By the way, Rikuro Ojisan’s cheesecake now costs 965 yen.
Since then, I’ve become a big fan of Rikuro’s cheesecake. I’ve been living in Osaka for about three years now, and I only just recently found out there’s a Rikuro café! As soon as I found out I went straight there to Riku Café ROOM on the second floor of the Namba main store.

My First Visit to Riku Café—More Than Just Cheesecake on the Menu
I successfully made a reservation and arrived at Rikuro Ojisan’s Namba’s main store in Namba. No matter when you come, there’s always a line of people waiting for the freshly baked cheesecakes in front of the shop.
On the first-floor, you can see the cheesecakes being made right in the shop’s kitchen! The sight of those freshly baked cakes coming right out of the oven will get your mouth watering for a taste of one.
The café occupies the 2nd and 3rd floors and offers a calm atmosphere with dark brown tables and chairs. There’s even a Rikuro Ojisan on the wall, which adds a cozy touch. After being seated, you can place your order using the QR code on the table.
The star of the menu is, of course, the “Super Fresh, Just-Baked Cheesecake” (¥1,380 per whole cake), but there were plenty of other tempting sweets I wanted to try too!
・The Freshly Made Mont Blanc on Cheesecake (¥1,230) features Rikuro Ojisan’s cheesecake generously topped with fresh whipped cream and rich Mont Blanc chestnut cream.
・The Custard Pudding on Fresh Cream (¥510) is a rich, creamy custard pudding served on a bed of fresh whipped cream.
They also have cakes like strawberry cream pie, chocolate cake, and fruit tarts. If you order one of the sets, your desert will come with a drink and a slice of cheesecake too! Be sure to treat yourself to your favorite sweet while you’re here.
Jiggly and Fluffy! Time to Taste the Freshly Baked Cheesecake
As I eagerly waited for the freshly baked cheesecake, straight from the oven, it arrived at my table covered with a silver lid.
Then, right in front of me, the staff lifted the lid and gently jiggled the cheesecake—showing off its wobbly, fluffy texture. I couldn’t stop grinning as I watched it wobble and jiggle! (Seriously, it was adorable!)
It’s not every day you get it fresh out of the oven—so I snapped a few quick photos and dug in right away!
The freshly baked cheesecake melts instantly in your mouth, leaving behind a gentle, lingering sweetness. It feels less like a cake and more like a pudding, or even a rich drink. The light and airy soufflé texture has a delicate sweetness and practically disappears the moment it hits your tongue. It’s simply melt-in-your-mouth perfection!
There’s just something special about freshly baked cheesecake—it tastes exceptional. At Riku Café, each person is required to order one drink, but the drink servings are big enough for two, so I was able to savor the cheesecake at a leisurely pace.
No Worries if You Can’t Finish—Take the Rest To Go!
Of course, I planned to eat the whole cake, but I was already full after just a third of it. My desire to keep eating and my full stomach were at battle. Which would win? Fortunately, you can take home any leftovers, so there’s no need to push yourself.
I had my leftovers packed to take home, so I can enjoy them carefully at home! My first visit to Riku Café was pure bliss. I’m also curious about the Mont Blanc, pudding, and other cakes, so I definitely want to make another reservation and visit again♪
Thank you, Rikuro Ojisan’s shop. Thank you, Rikuro Ojisan’s cheesecake!
Everyone, you’ve got to try this delightfully wobbly, super fresh, just-baked cheesecake for yourselves.
