Osaka is an Amazing Study destination for International Students. Have a Great Time in Osaka with Japanese Students!

Maido! Osaka Bob here.
Did you know, there are over 20,000 international students in Osaka Prefecture? That’s the second highest number of international students in Japan, following Tokyo. I’m also an international student, by the way. And I’m very happy to have made so many friends during my time in Osaka.
Now, I’d like to share some useful information about study abroad in Osaka with my fellow international students and information for Japanese students who are interested in intercultural exchange!

OGSA supports overseas students in Osaka!

First of all, I would like to introduce an amazing organization that supports international students—the Osaka Global Student Support Association (OGSA).

OGSA is an organization that was created in April 2020 for the purpose of supporting international students. It was formed by Osaka Prefecture, Osaka City, Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Osaka International Foundation, Center for International Education and Exchange universities, junior colleges and vocational schools, student organizations, companies and organizations supporting international students, and cooperative efforts from the Osaka Tourism Bureau.

They listen to the needs of international students and work to support them in various ways. Their goal is to create an Osaka that is good to live in, study in, and work in. Their website STUDY IN OSAKAhttps://www.studyinosaka.com/ogsa/)covers the charms of Osaka and information necessary for studying abroad. They also develop events where international students can interact with Japanese students like the International Student Expo and International Student Week, among other activities to assist students with employment, business start-ups, and more.

Join OGSAN and Make Your Student life in Osaka Better!

Among the support provided by OGSA, I would like to recommend the Osaka Global Student Ambassador Network (OGSAN), which is open to all international students.

This year, participants have enjoyed sumo wrestling and sports, and taken part in internships at the Osaka Tourism Bureau.
Many participants were satisfied with their experience in Osaka, and have said things like, “I had a valuable experience during the internship!” and “I made many memories and friends through the English camp with high school students.”

Some of them have even been chosen to be lucky fukumusume shrine maidens at Imamiya Ebisu Shrine!

OGSAN is recommended for anyone who:

  1. Wants to have various experiences in Osaka
  2. Wants to interact with international students and Japanese people
  3. Wants to tell people about the things they enjoy about Osaka

There are many opportunities to meet people and participate in different events through OGSAN. Would you like to join and experience new ways of enjoying Osaka? If this sounds like you, why don’t you give it a try?
Let’s make your international student life even more enjoyable!

Hey Osaka students! Meet International Students through ONISE

Here comes some great information for Japanese students.
In Osaka, there is a group called “Osaka Network for International Student Exchange (ONISE).” This organization was created because many international students wanted more opportunities to interact with Japanese students. And Japanese students who are interested in interacting with international students have joined.

Exchange events between Japanese students and international students are always exciting, like the International Student Week and year-end parties.
The organization is not limited to only university students. Vocational school students and high school students can register as well!

ONISE is recommended for anyone who:

  1. Wants to make friends with foreign students
  2. Wants to speak English or a foreign language
  3. Wants to experience the cultures of various countries and learn about international exchange

Osaka Bob & OGSAN are planning a project to liven up Osaka!

I originally came to Osaka because my grandmother is Japanese and she’s from Osaka. I’ve been having an amazing time since I got here.
Osaka has flourished as a business hub since ancient times, and it’s been the birthplace of many wonderful companies that are still operating to this day. The city also has tons of charm, including cheap and delicious gourmet food. Plus Osakans are known for their great sense of humor and friendliness.
It’s also a great location since Osaka is so close to the world-famous historical cities of Kyoto and Nara, as well as Japan’s leading port city, Kobe! It’s so fulfilling to work with the friends I have met here (Bob family) to share the charms of Osaka with the world.

Together with OGSAN members who, like me, are enjoying studying abroad in Osaka, we came up with a plan to make Osaka even more exciting than it already is.

“Speak Osaka, Explore Osaka, Study in Osaka”

The theme here is “Study in Osaka! It’s so cool!” Our mission is to post international students’ videos about the charms of studying in Osaka on the STUDY IN OSAKA’s Instagram. And we look forward to everyone’s comments. The first phase starts in mid-January 2025. We are making fun plans involving instagram reels and gifts.
If you’re interested, please share this with your friends too!
