Get Your Health Data from the Popular Body Scan Pod!
The Osaka Healthcare Pavilion is built around the theme of being REBORN, offering visitors a glimpse into the future of healthcare, urban living, and the incredible possibilities of regenerative medicine using iPS cells. As someone who absolutely loves Osaka, I knew this was one pavilion I had to visit—especially since it’s a collaboration between local industry, academia, and government, all bringing their best ideas together.
While I was there, I tried the REBORN Experience, one of the most talked-about programs at the Expo. It lets you meet your future self—an avatar based on your current health data. Expo-goers really rave about this one!
Now, let’s step inside and see what it’s all about.
After a quick briefing, you’ll receive your REBORN Band, and then you move onto the next stop—the Body Scan Pod.
Inside the pod, you simply follow the instructions as they appear onscreen, like straightening your back or placing your hands in a certain position. Honestly, it’s so easy to do that you might find yourself wondering, “Wait, that’s it?” But don’t worry, it’s supposed to be easy! Behind the scenes, multiple cameras and sensors are hard at work, measuring seven types of data, including your cardiovascular health, musculoskeletal condition, hair, skin, and more.
Come Face-to-Face with Your Future Self—An Avatar 25 Years from Now!
Once the scan is done, you follow the route to the future ride.
As the ride begins, a screen on the wall displays images of Nakanoshima Park. I was starting to wonder where we were headed when, suddenly, the bus lifts off into the sky!
So even buses fly in 2050? Now that’s the kind of future I can get excited about.
The ride takes you through the cityscape of future Osaka.
Familiar sights from today’s Osaka have been re-imagined with a futuristic twist. I really hope the city does actually look like this someday!
Then, as the ride comes to an end, you arrive at the highlight:
the zone where you finally meet your future self—your avatar for yourself 25 years in the future.
You can feel the suspense in the air as everyone steps up to the screen, a little nervously, to meet their future selves.
So… what does your future self look like?
Meet your future self—25 years from now!
I heard some people around me saying, “Nice to meet you…” to their avatars.
It’s such a strange, surreal feeling to see what you might look like decades from now.
If this were a theme park, the experience might end here—but this is the Expo!
From here, you dive even deeper into the future, exploring how you can use your own health data in a next-generation healthcare and urban living setting.
Next, I headed over to the Personalized Food Stand, where they suggest nutrition, ingredients, and recipes tailored to your body’s current condition.
I even got a pack of GABA-infused gummies.
And that’s not all! There’s so much future-focused healthcare to explore:
a wearable robot that enhances your physical abilities, a futuristic beauty salon, even a space shower!
Because everything is so personal and connected to your own body, it’s easy to become totally absorbed. I found myself exploring each and every corner!
Experience the Future of Food—Drinks Served by Robots at the AIR WATER NEO MIX STAND
After the experiential area, I headed to the part filled with future food and culture.
The area is divided into two zones: a Demo Kitchen Area for learning and an zone with food and retail booths for experiencing the magic.
The Hokka-Hokka, bento box that you can eat one-handed and on the go is very popular. There’s also a rice ball specialty shop called PACKN-TO that is endeavoring to create the ultimate salted onigiri! There’s a wide variety of vendors offering delicious and healthy food options.
And then I stumbled on something amazing—the AIR WATER NEO MIX STAND!
Here, a robot will serve you up a cold, refreshing drink. For real, a robot!
Two robotic arms, moving just like human hands, carefully prepare each drink as it’s ordered.
They even put the lid on. Now that’s some serious work ethic and non-stop action!
But it’s not just the novelty of robots that makes this stand special.
The colorful smoothie cubes are made from seasonal ingredients sourced from Hokkaido, frozen into vibrant blocks of flavor.
Shake them up, and you’ve got a refreshing, original drink that’s as tasty as it is high-tech.
The bottles featuring this adorable Myaku-Myaku design are super cute, too.
When I asked the staff, “Which drink is the most popular?” they said, “Well, since this is Osaka, the mixed drinks are the biggest sellers.”
I happened to have ordered a mixed drink myself. I guess that’s just my Osaka spirit showing.
[AIR WATER NEO MIX STAND menu]
・Fresh Hokkaido-grown Fruit Smoothie
・NEO Hokkaido x Osaka Mixed Drink
・100% Hokkaido-grown Tomato and 12-Vegetable Juice
・Hokkaido Red Eye (alcoholic beverage)
Each priced at 1,100 yen (tax included).
By the way, in the Future City Zone of the Osaka Healthcare Pavilion, you can try out exercises tailored to how you’re feeling that day. There’s also the Neo Lifestyle LDK—a futuristic kitchen that suggests meals based on your mood and body data. It’s a fascinating glimpse into what life might be like in the future!
From “The Game of Life REBORN in 2025” to the Futuristic Human Washing Machine, The Osaka Healthcare Pavilion is an Absolute Must-see!
I tried out the Body Scan Pod, but there’s still so much more to see at the Osaka Healthcare Pavilion!
Among the highlights are the virtual reality game “Life Game REBORN in 2050,” set in a futuristic city in the year 2050, and “Monster Hunter Bridge,” an immersive 360-degree theater experience that lets you feel the action all around you. Both are extremely popular with visitors!

The attractions aren’t just for kids—adults can dive right into these immersive experiences, too. Whoever came up with this idea is a genius!
Plus, in the atrium, you’ll find the Futuristic Human Washing Machine on display.
This is the upgraded version of the famous Human Washing Machine that was showcased at the 1970 Osaka Expo! It was already creating a buzz even before the Expo even opened.
Not only does it cleanse your body, but it’s said to have the ability to refresh your mind, too!
There’s so much more fun and excitement to the Osaka Healthcare Pavilion than I can’t fully describe here.
If you’re heading to the Osaka-Kansai Expo, be sure to check out the Osaka Healthcare Pavilion and enjoy every moment!

Well, that’s a wrap on my report from the Osaka Healthcare Pavilion!
Let me just share a few glimpses of the future scenes I encountered while I was there.
Can you guess where this is?
The correct answer is Tennoji! If you look closely, you can spot Abeno Harukas in the center background.
By the way, here’s what the current view looks like from a similar angle.
I wonder what it actually will look like 25 years from now.
At the Osaka Healthcare Pavilion, I got a glimpse of the future Osaka. Now it’s your turn!
If you’re visiting the Osaka-Kansai Expo, be sure to stop by and check it out!
