Hattori Tenjingu Shrine (服部天神宮)

Toyonaka

This Shinto shrine is affiliated with traffic safety and healing leg problems. It venerates the two deities divinity of Sugawara Michizane and Sukunahikona. There are also sanctuaries dedicated to Ebisu, one of the 7 lucky gods, and Inari the kami of foxes, rice, fertility, etc.
The Shrine's main sanctuary was built in 1827 through donations from supporters. Notable attractions include the stone seat where you may sit and pray for the healthy legs/feet and the Sanctuary of Straw Sandals where you can see sandals brought here by worshippers in gratitude for the alleviation of leg and foot problems. Some of the sandals date back to the Edo period (1603–1867).
The Jan. 9–11 Tōka Ebisu Festival is very popular for people living in the northern part of Osaka Prefecture. During the festival period they sell gigantic ¥100000000 bills that are said to bring riches when hung upside down.
