We’ve created the MAIDO。Osaka Bob Online Shop to serve you, in case:

1. Transporting souvenirs in your luggage is too troublesome.
2. You want to something from Osaka without traveling to Japan.

Many people have been unable to visit Osaka because of Covid-19 and when the pandemic ends we expect visitors to return. So we’ve decided this is the perfect time to set up our online shop.

We’re bringing you the best of it all with our selection of products from Osaka. And we believe the easiest way to share it with everyone is through this online platform where you can shop and see what Osaka has to offer.
Here’s the first round of items that are on sale!

Do you recognize these?
These products are decorated with the colorful vibrant style of world renowned artist Koji Kinutani. His work is on display in Osaka at the Koji Kinutani Tenku Art Museum, and for a limited time we have a selection of goods from the museum gift shop.

■Powerful images of Japan from Koji Kinutani

Koji Kinutani was born in Nara, studied in Italy, and cultivated fresco painting (an ancient mural technique). His artwork is appealing due to its colorful, vivid, and extraordinarily unique nature, which combines Japanese aesthetics with Western-style painting like fresco. His works include various themes from Japanese culture like Mt. Fuji and the Seven Gods of Fortune.

For reference, here’s a look at Mt. Fuji.

Japan’s tallest mountain with an altitude of 3776.12 m.
Mt. Fuji has been worshipped by the Japanese since ancient times and is the subject of countless artworks.
It became a registered World Heritage Site in 2013.

And here are the Seven Gods of Fortune.

Japanese culture actually recognizes a number of deities, but the Seven Gods of Fortune are noted for being particularly lucky. Their plump figures are so incredibly cute!

This is how Mt. Fuji and the Seven Gods of Good Fortune are depicted in Koji Kinutani’s artwork!

You might be thinking, why is Mt. Fuji red!? Apparently at certain times in summer and fall, the morning light falls on Mt. Fuji giving it a red hue. And when this happens it is considered a good luck omen. It’s a very special time to see the volcano.
You may have also noticed that the Seven Gods of Good Fortune are on jet skis. Koji Kinutani’s artwork always leaves a strong impression.
These two pieces have been turned into original notebooks.
