Get all curry-ed up at Grand Front Osaka

Osaka is sacred ground for spice curry lovers. And of course Osaka has more to offer in the way of curry than just the famous spice curry. Our restaurants cook up a whole array of different curries so have fun exploring the different restaurants while you’re here. For starters, let’s look at some of the restaurants in Grand Front Osaka located at Osaka Station, the gateway to the city for many travelers.

All Day Coffee—Curry at a coffee shop

First on my list is All Day Coffee, located in the first floor basement of Umekita Plaza. This coffee stand is counter only, and believe it or not, they make an amazing spice curry!

The rice shines in a nice turmeric infused shade of yellow. Even though they use a lot of spices in their curry, they include ingredients from Japanese cooking too to draw out the flavor, like soy sauce and mirin. This leaves their curry with a mild flavor, but one that is robust and will leave you feeling satisfied. If you like Osaka style spice curry, you will be happy that you came here. What I like about their curry is that the pickled egg is bursting with flavor and it compliments the curry exquisitely.
The restaurant doesn’t usually fill up so you can grab a quick bite to eat at the counter.

Erick South—Authentic South Indian curry, for lunch!

Erick South is a chain restaurant from Tokyo, specializing in South Indian curry. And like All Day Coffee, Erick South is located in the first floor basement of Grand Front Osaka’s South Building.

Curry and naan might come to mind when you think of Indian food, but South Indian curry is usually eaten with rice instead of naan. Erick South serves a platter they call “Meals” which is multiple curries around a center of rice and a crispy papad. The curry is smooth and spicy at the same time. I love that you can taste multiple different styles of curry in the same dish.
They also make a killer biryani with basmati rice so if you are a biryani person, you’ll be happy here too.

Indian Tandoori, Bindu—Spicy tandoori chicken will knock your socks off

The next restaurant is on the 7th floor. Of course they have Indian curry and they also serve tandoori chicken. This is also a chain restaurant with multiple locations in Osaka. This one in Grand Front opened in 2022.

Here you can choose from a variety of curries and naan as well. Both the cheese and garlic naanaanns are delicious, and there are many more to choose from.
And the tandoor grilled chicken is out of this world! It comes on a sizzling plate and it isn’t just a few bite-sized pieces of chicken. They serve you a whole plump chicken leg flavored with spices that will get your appetite going.
Then select a type of curry and your desired spiciness level and you’ve got yourself a satisfying meal.

Rojiura Curry SAMURAI—Sapporo-style soup curry loaded with veggies

Rojiura Curry SAMURAI is also located on the 7th floor of the South Building and their claim to fame is their delicious soup curry from the experts of soup curry hailing from Hokkaido.
Hokkaido’s cold winters inspired this flavorful dish that will warm you up from the inside out. This is one of the dishes you’ll want to try if you visit the northern island, but don’t worry if you don’t make it all the way up there. We have it in Kansai now too!
Rojiura Curry SAMURAI is a pretty popular spot though, so when you get here there could be a line of customers waiting to get inside.

The soup curry is filling, but not heavy, and it’s full of veggies. You’ll feel charged up after eating and the spices will warm you up. You can choose from a variety of soups and spice levels to suit your tastes.

It may not be curry, but it is spicy—Tantanmen

In addition to the 4 curry restaurants I mentioned above, if you expand your search to include curry udon, I’m sure there are more curry restaurants in Grand Front Osaka. And there are definitely more restaurants that will satisfy your cravings for spice.
Anyone on the hunt for spice, will love the Tantanmen from Kayu-San-Chin. They serve spicy noodles are seeped in a rich bonito-based broth. Or try Chuka Sawakichi for some equally spice-infused Mabo Ramen.
You don’t have to look very far, Grand Front Osaka is a paradise for spice lovers looking for their next fix!
