How to use the Osaka e-Pass

The first step is to get to the reception desk of whichever facility you want to use.

Then all you have to do is take out your smartphone or tablet and show the staff your e-Pass QR code!

Then you click on the button that says “Display tickets”—shown in pink on the photo above.
Then you will jump to the screen on the right.
The QR code on the top right is your QR code, which you show for admission to each facility.

When you show the staff your QR code, they will scan it with a reader.

So that’s it! That’s all you have to do to get in.
You won’t have to buy admission tickets every time you go to each place!
There’s no hassle and admission is so smooth!

How much can you save with the Osaka e-Pass?

There are actually two factors that go into maximizing your savings with the e-Pass.
① Using the pass at many facilities
② Using the pass at facilities with high admission fees

For example, suppose you visit the following four places.

Tsutenkaku Tower (Observation deck)—1,000 yen

The total amount is 4,500 yen.

However, the Osaka e-Pass (one-day ticket) costs 2,400 yen, so you’ll save 2,100 yen.
If you are a group of 4, you would save 2,100 yen x 4, so that’s a total of 8,400 yen for your group.

Save that much on admission and you could use it for souvenirs and dining out!

However, there is one thing to keep in mind—the Osaka e-Pass doesn’t include transportation tickets.

Osaka Metro sells passes called Enjoy Eco Cards that will take you right where you want to go!

Osaka Metro’s Enjoy Eco Card is so convenient and gets you unlimited subway rides for one day!

The Enjoy Eco Card is a one-day pass that allows you to ride unlimited on all Osaka Metro lines and Osaka City Bus (excluding some portions of the bus services).

It is a major transportation network Osaka and is used by about 2.3 million people every day.

Weekends and holidays are 200 yen cheaper than weekdays! Children’s Enjoy Eco Cards are half-price

There are two types of Enjoy Eco Cards: one for weekdays and one for weekends and holidays.
The weekday passes are 820 yen and they’re only 600 yen on weekends and holidays.

It’s 220 yen cheaper to use on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, so it’s great for people who want to sightsee in Osaka during a holiday!
There is also a version for children, which costs 310 yen.

The Enjoy Eco Card offers discounts at approximately 30 tourist locations!

The Enjoy Eco Card can be purchased inside subway stations.

I recommend purchasing them from a ticket-vending machine.

It has options to navigate the system in English, Chinese, and Korean.
To purchase an Enjoy Eco Card, select the “Card” button, the one at the bottom left out of the 4 choices.

Then you will be taken to the card purchase screen, where four types of cards are displayed: a One-Day Pass (for weekdays and Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays), a Multiple Ride Card, and a Kitakyu Transfer Multi-Ride Pass.

Also, when making a purchase for multiple tickets, select the number and types of tickets using the person-shaped icons at the bottom of the screen.

All you have to do is put your money in. Once the you have inserted enough money, your ticket will be issued.

How to use the Enjoy Eco Card

When you ride trains in Japan, you always pass through a ticket gate.
Most people use IC cards that require you to tap your card when you go in and out. But the Enjoy Eco Card is a card that needs to be inserted in the gate.

When you insert your card, the ticket gate will open!

Some gates are reserved for IC cards only, and they won’t have a slot, so you can’t use your Enjoy Eco Card on the IC only gates.
