Bank of Japan, Osaka Branch (Old Building)

Nakanoshima

Constructed in 1903 and designed by the Kingo Tatsuno (aka the father of Japanese modern architecture), this neoclassical style building was modeled after the National Bank of Belgium. It faces Osaka's main boulevard, Midosuji, and is centrally located on Nakanoshima, across from Osaka City Hall. It has a distinct green-blue dome-shaped roof and Ionic pillars at the entrance. Public tours are available with prior reservations.
