Osaka Castle Main Tower (大阪城天守閣)

Osaka Castle Park

The main tower of Osaka Castle is one of Osaka's most beloved symbols. Toyotomi Hideyoshi (1537-1598), one of Japan's great unifiers made this his home castle. The tower you see today is actually the third castle to be built here, as the first two were destroyed in war and fires.
History buffs will enjoy the exhibits on display inside the castle museum, including armor and art. And there is an impressive view of the surroundings from the top floor. The scenery changes with the season, each more beautiful than the next, with views of cherry blossoms in spring; breathtaking sunsets in summer; autumn foliage in fall; and the plum grove in bloom in winter.
