Meet OMO7 Osaka’s Traveling Love Piano
Here for a short time only!

Maido! Osaka Bob here!

We all want the kind of trip that will linger on in our hearts and memories. And that’s just the kind of trip Hoshino Resorts offers its guests. Recently, they’ve collaborated with Yamaha to bring us the “Traveling Love Piano” to share the joy of music and performance with guests and music lovers.
The piano’s first stop was Hoshino Resorts RISONARE Tomamu, and now it’s here at OMO7 Osaka, which opened earlier this year.

■ The Traveling Love Piano makes an appearance at OMO 7 Osaka!

Love Piano is a part of the resort experience!
The piano sits in the spacious 85-meter long hall with high ceilings 5 meters overhead. On the other side of the floor-to-ceiling windows, a green lawn creates a beautiful backdrop featuring JR Shin-Imamiya Station in the background.
I’ve been here before, so it’s no surprise, but the interior is so welcoming. Colorful sofas fill the space and the takoyaki motif reminds you warmly that—Yes! You are in Osaka!

And in the middle of all of this fun vibrant OMO style, comes the piano.

It’s painted, and pastel, and oh-so-kawaii.
It breathes an air of creativity on a canvas that is usually plain brown or black.

■ Opening event with local pianist Wataru Sumi

The Traveling Love Piano made its appearance at OMO7 Osaka on October 1st. And there was also a special performance by a special guest.

Wataru Sumi from Osaka!

He performed in the outdoor garden area and the OMO7 Osaka staff joined him in the opening. He also played the chart-topping single “Osaka Lover” by Dreams Come True.

At the request of Hoshino Resort staff, he also played a song from Galaxy Express 999.
And the audience responded. They were on their feet and clapping along with the music the whole time!

Even Kushitan (Shinsekai’s mascot character) and Nadeko-chan (the character for Naniwa-ku) were there.

■ Something sweet while you listen to song requests

The Traveling Love Piano is open to the public, so there is usually something wonderful playing.

This space has turned into a mini-recital.
And if you play the piano, you get to take home one of these stickers.

For a limited time, the OMO Cafe & Bar is offering a special Traveling Love Piano Cake (¥1,200 including tax).

It looks amazing, doesn’t it?

This is the view from above. The lines of pistachio represent a music staph, with jam and flower-petal notes, I think.
What a fantastical way to enjoy your holiday, with cake and live music. OMO7 Osaka is accepting requests for the Traveling Love Piano too!
There are 2 ways to request a song.
The first way is to use the request board, which is located next to the piano.

Pick up one of these cards, which are located in a tray and write the name of a song you would like to hear.

All of the cards look like kushikatsu (fried skewers). How cute!
I chose the fried lotus root card to write my request.

The next step is easy. Just post it on the request board.

Now all I have to do is wait for someone to choose my song. I wonder if anyone will play it…

The other way to put in a request is through the RISONARE Tomamu and Yamaha social media accounts.

■ Making connections with the Traveling Love Piano Notes

The Traveling Love Piano is at OMO7 Osaka for a short time only. It will visit a total of 7 Hoshino Resort locations on this trip. And there are Traveling Love Piano Notes that go with it.

The notes are a log of people’s experiences and impressions after a performance.
“The piano was cute.” “I played a Ghibli song. It was fun!” “I will be back to hear more great performances.”

I found a comment from the popular pianist Harami-chan. She has lots of videos on Youtube and performed at the RISONARE Tomamu opening in Hokkaido.
It’s really special to see the memories and emotions that go together with the piano.

■ Halloween Takoyaki Parties, Oct. 15–31!

Here is one more reason to visit OMO7 Osaka at the end of the month—the Takoyaki Parties!!!
These evening events are for adults and the theme is Halloween + Takoyaki.

OMO7Osaka Halloween Takoyaki Night

5 different kinds of wine from Osaka wineries are expertly paired with sweets served in takoyaki plates and waiting for you at the 50 meter long bar counter.

There will be appearances by the Takoyaki Pianist playing Halloween songs. Takoyaki Jack-o-Lanterns set the mood and the sound of the Traveling Love Piano fills the air.
How about adding these charming tones to add to the memories you make on your Osaka trip?
